Pleat is built to be private by design. The short version: your wardrobe never leaves your device, and we never see it.
Nothing. Pleat has no account system, no servers, and no analytics. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information.
Everything you put into Pleat — your clothing photos, outfits, wear logs, trips, and settings — is stored only on your device. Photos you add or capture are saved in the app's private storage on your phone. None of it is uploaded anywhere.
Pleat asks for camera and photo-library access only so you can add pictures of your own clothes. Those images stay on your device. Access is used solely when you choose to add or capture a photo.
Photo clean-up (background removal, lighting, wrinkle softening, color detection) runs entirely on your device using Apple's on-device frameworks. No image is ever sent to a server.
Pleat works fully offline. Two optional features use the internet, and both stay off until you allow them — Pleat asks once when you open the app, and you can change your answer any time in Settings → Online features. With online features off, Pleat makes no network requests at all.
Weather: if you turn it on, Pleat requests a forecast from Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com), a free weather service, so outfit suggestions can match the day. The request contains approximate coordinates — from a low-accuracy location reading, or a city you type in — and nothing else: no identifier, no account, and none of your wardrobe data. Location is only read while you are using the app, never in the background.
Product links: when you paste a shop link into your wishlist and tap “Fill in from link”, Pleat downloads that one page directly from the shop to read the product's name, brand and price. The request goes straight from your phone to the shop, like opening the page in a browser; it carries no identifier and none of your wardrobe data, and nothing passes through us. The shop may log the request as it would any visit.
Pleat only sends local notifications, created and scheduled on your device; no push servers are involved and nothing is sent anywhere. They need your permission in iOS, and each one can be turned off in Settings → Reminders: a daily reminder to log what you wore and an optional morning weather note. Newer versions also add a Sunday-evening weekly recap of what you logged and a single check-in if you haven't opened Pleat for a few days; these only arrive if you have already allowed Pleat's notifications.
If you choose to rate the app, that interaction is handled entirely by Apple's standard App Store review prompt. We never receive any personal data from it.
Pleat does not collect data from anyone, including children.
Because your data lives only on your device, deleting the app removes all of it. You can also clear your data from within the app's settings at any time.
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date.
