What Pleat does

A wardrobe app for wearing more of what you already own.

Catalog your closet

Add clothes from the camera or your photo library, one at a time or in a batch. On iOS 17 and later, Pleat removes the background on-device and can split one flat-lay photo into separate pieces.

Outfits from your own clothes

Style Me builds full looks only from pieces you own, balancing color harmony, wear history and, if you want, the weather. Lock what you like and re-roll the rest.

Plan the week

Plan a look for any day, or tap Fill my week to plan the next seven days at once. Log what you wear in one tap and build a streak.

Wear what you own

Cost per wear turns every piece into a number. Rotate mode surfaces clothes you have been neglecting, and Pleat notices when you repeat the exact same outfit.

Pack for a trip

Pleat suggests a packing list from your closet for each trip, then styles outfits only from what you packed.

Buy less, better

The wishlist checks a potential purchase against what you already own, with a 30-day rule and a no-buy challenge that adds up what you didn't spend. Paste a shop link to fill in the details. A guided closet audit sorts pieces into keep, repair, donate or sell.

Siri and a widget

Ask Siri "What should I wear in Pleat," or put today's look on your Home Screen with the Today's Look widget.

Your data, portable

Export your whole closet, photos included, as one .zip file, and restore it on a new iPhone from Settings.

Fill in details for you

Pleat reads shopping screenshots on-device to fill in name, brand, size and price, reads care labels for fabric details, and suggests each piece's color from its photo.

Your year in clothes

A free end-of-year recap: days dressed, how much of your closet you wore, your most-worn pieces, your signature look and your color, with a card to share.

Gentle reminders

Optional local notifications: a daily nudge to log your outfit and a morning note on the weather. Each one has its own switch, and none of them come from a server.

Online or fully offline

Weather and shop-link lookups are the only things that use the internet. Pleat asks once, and one switch in Settings turns every network request off.

How Pleat keeps your wardrobe private

Each claim below, and how you can check it yourself.

Pleat collects no data

Pleat has no analytics, no tracking and no advertising. Your photos, outfits and wear logs live only in the app's private storage on your device.

Check: the App Store privacy label for Pleat reads "Data Not Collected." See also the privacy policy.

Pleat works without an internet connection

Cataloging, outfit suggestions, planning, trips, Siri and the widget all work offline. Only two optional extras need a connection, the weather forecast and reading shop links you paste into your wishlist, and both stay off until you allow them. One switch in Settings turns every online feature off.

Check: turn on airplane mode and use the app.

There is no Pleat server

Pleat has no account system and no backend. Backups are files you export and keep yourself, in Files or iCloud Drive.

Check: there is no sign-up screen, and no Pleat login exists anywhere.

Online features are optional, and one switch turns them off

If you allow them, weather sends approximate coordinates, or a city you type, to the free Open-Meteo forecast service, and "Fill in from link" downloads the one shop page you pasted, straight from the shop. Nothing else is sent: no identifier and no wardrobe data, and nothing passes through Pleat.

Check: Settings → Online features in the app. With it off, Pleat makes no network requests at all.

Notifications are made on your phone

Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device. There are no push servers, so nothing about your closet leaves your phone to send them.

Check: Settings → Reminders, where each one has its own switch.

Frequently asked questions

Last updated November 2, 2026.

  • Is there a wardrobe app that works offline?

Yes. Pleat is a closet and outfit planner for iPhone that works fully offline. Your photos, outfits and wear history stay on the device, and styling runs on the device. Optional online features (a weather forecast and reading shop links you paste) stay off until you allow them.

  • Does Pleat require an account or sign-up?

No. Pleat has no account, no login and no email sign-up. You open the app and start adding clothes. Because there is no account, there is nothing to sync to a server and nothing for anyone else to access.

  • Is Pleat free, or does it need a subscription?

Pleat is free to download and use. It has no subscription, no in-app purchases and no ads. Every feature, including outfit suggestions, Siri, the Home Screen widget and backups, works without paying anything.

  • What data does Pleat collect about me?

Pleat collects no data. Its App Store privacy label reads "Data Not Collected." The app has no analytics, no tracking and no servers. Wardrobe photos, outfits and wear logs are stored only in the app's private storage on your iPhone.

  • Where does Pleat's AI run?

All of Pleat's smart features run on your iPhone. Background removal, multi-item detection and text reading use Apple's on-device Vision framework, and outfit styling is a rule-based engine inside the app. Pleat does not send your photos to a cloud AI service.

  • How does Pleat suggest what to wear?

Style Me builds head-to-toe looks only from pieces you own. It weighs color harmony, how recently each piece was worn, your style profile and, if enabled, the day's weather. You can lock pieces you like, re-roll the rest and set rules such as "navy and charcoal only."

  • Can Pleat remove the background from clothing photos?

Yes. On iOS 17 and later, Pleat lifts each garment from its background using Apple's on-device Vision framework and evens out the lighting. It can also detect several pieces in one flat-lay photo and add each one as its own item.

  • Does Pleat work with Siri and Shortcuts?

Yes. Ask Siri "What should I wear in Pleat" and it answers with today's look from your own closet, with a card showing the pieces. Pleat prepares that look on your iPhone in advance, so it never sends your closet anywhere to answer.

  • Does Pleat have a Home Screen widget?

Yes. The Today's Look widget shows the outfit Pleat picked for today, in small and medium sizes. It reads the same on-device suggestion as Siri, so your wardrobe stays on your iPhone. The widget needs iOS 17 or later.

  • Can Pleat make a packing list for a trip?

Yes. Create a trip with its dates and Pleat suggests a packing list from your closet. Check pieces off as you pack, then ask Style Me for outfits built only from what you packed for that trip.

  • Does Pleat track cost per wear?

Yes. Enter what you paid for a piece and log the days you wear it. Pleat shows each item's cost per wear and wear count, and its rotate mode resurfaces pieces you have not worn in a while.

  • Can Pleat tell me whether to buy something new?

Yes. Add a piece to Pleat's wishlist and it checks the item against what you already own, flags near-duplicates and projects its cost per wear. Paste a shop link and Pleat can fill in the name, brand and price, and a 30-day rule shows how long each piece has been waiting. If you buy it, one tap moves it into your closet.

  • Can Pleat help me do a no-buy challenge?

Yes. Start a 30, 60 or 90 day no-buy challenge from the wishlist. Pleat counts the days, notices any purchases from the dates on pieces you add, and adds up the price of everything you decided not to buy.

  • Does Pleat have a year in review?

Yes, and it is free. Your Year in Clothes shows how many days you logged an outfit, how much of your closet you wore, your most-worn pieces, your signature look and your color, with a card you can share. It is made on your iPhone from your own wear log.

  • Can I turn off everything in Pleat that uses the internet?

Yes. Pleat asks once whether to allow online features, and Settings → Online features switches them all off at any time. With it off, Pleat makes no network requests at all; weather turns off and pasted shop links are read from the link text only.

  • How do I back up my closet or move it to a new iPhone?

In Pleat's Settings, export your closet as one .zip file containing every photo and all your data. Save it to Files or iCloud Drive, then restore it from Settings on your new iPhone. A smaller data-only backup is also available.

  • Which devices does Pleat run on?

Pleat runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS 16.4 or later and is available on the App Store. Background removal, multi-item detection and the Home Screen widget need iOS 17 or later.

  • Does Pleat use my location?

Only if you turn on weather. Pleat then sends approximate coordinates, or a city you type, to the Open-Meteo forecast service to fetch local weather. Weather is off by default, and Pleat never uses location in the background.
